Another great letter to the editor at the Daily News Record in Harrisonburg!
National Debt Increased Under Goodlatte
Posted: May 30, 2012
In September of 1993, just months after Rep. Bob Goodlatte was sworn into an office, he promised to hold only six terms and the national debt was just more than $4.4 trillion.
Today, as Bob is running for his 11th term, our national debt stands at just over $15.7 trillion. Between January of 1993 and today, Bob has voted to raise the debt ceiling some 13 times. Just weeks ago, at a Saturday morning breakfast meeting in Waynesboro, Bob said that under certain conditions he would continue to vote for debt ceiling increases.
To be clear, today’s national debt holds every taxpayer responsible for $138,408. How many of you are prepared for your children and grandchildren to pay for the debt today’s representatives incur?
On June 12, I would encourage people from across the entire political spectrum to come out and participate in the Republican primary, and thank Bob by casting your vote for Karen Kwiatkowski.
